Have you ever said, “you can never have too much _______?” Sometimes there are things in our world and life that just speak to us and that we can’t seem to get enough of. Shoes, stuffed animals, baskets, candles, books –so many wonderful items in this world can catch our attention. There are only a few things that I say that about and I can tell you what they are right now!
Sweaters
As I browsed the clearance rack at my local department store, I was gravitating towards sweaters—I live in the Pacific Northwest and it is always sweater weather here! I have never met a sweater that didn’t belong in my closet, so the chance to get a new one at a clearance price was delighting me (I am easy to please!). My latest obsession is cardigans—and if they have pockets—look out! Something about a warm and cozy sweater just speaks to my comfort-craving soul. I have them in all sizes and colors and in every room of my house, just waiting to be put on at the first hint of cold air. I know how to stay warm!
Snapdragons
I LOVE snapdragons! I love my yard and have 3 flower gardens and approximately 20 pots for flowers. In the middle of summer, they are just stunning. So, I love flowers, but snapdragons are the star as far as I am concerned. I even have one whole flower bed just for my snaps, and it is the first one you see when you enter our yard. They flower early and re-flower all summer long and into the fall. One especially mild winter, my snaps wintered over without dying. I cannot describe to you how beautiful and huge those flowers grew the following summer! They come in all colors and just make me smile for months at a time—what more can I say?
Coffee
If you’ve been following my Pinterest pins, you know that I LOVE COFFEE. Yep, it smells luscious and tastes even better, and my morning doesn’t start until I have had my first cup. My husband is a coffee snob who is picky about the roast and brand, but I will drink anything and be happy. I used to cook and waitress in a truck stop and I can put down the black coffee with the best of them! I think the aroma takes me back to my childhood when I woke every single morning to the smell and sound of the coffee percolating in our kitchen. I love wrapping my hands around a hot cup of brew (it helps my arthritis). I currently have a Keurig, a Ninja coffee system and an espresso maker, but am considering ordering a good old fashioned percolator……
Yarn
I love to crochet and made all our grandkids stuffed figures for Christmas last year—everything from Elsa to a snake! I also crochet hats, mittens and blankets. Yarn has a seductive hold on me and I can get lost in the yarn section of any crafts store. So many beautiful colors and textures—so little time! This obsession probably dates to my mom, who taught me to crochet. Sitting with yarn and a hook feels like I am sitting with her again. Miss you, Mom.
Grandchildren
Of course, you can never have too many grandchildren! Ever!!! Grandchildren are the dessert of our lives, our reward for making it through raising their parents. I tell my grown children that while I love them dearly, I love their children with an extravagant love. Knowing I will not be able to know them for their whole life is a little sad, so we enjoy every second we can get with them. As an Air Force brat, I spent little time with my grandparents while growing up. As a result I treasure this relationship now with our grandchildren. Rory and I have 7 beautiful legacies and our oldest son is engaged to a lovely woman with a 4-year-old daughter. How did she know we needed another granddaughter?!
So, there are my 5 biggest obsessions I cannot do without and can never have too many of. There are probably more, but these are the ones I admit to out loud on a frequent basis. ? What are your “can’t have enough of” items? Let us know in the comments section. Let’s chat!
