Black and White
This is a picture of me from, I’m guessing–1956. If you have a picture somewhat like this one in your photo albums, you’re probably a baby boomer like me. We grew up in the 50’s and 60’s, graduating from black and white televisions to color. Our oldest daughter once wrote a book for 2nd grade titled “When the World was Black & White”. Having seen our childhood photos, she thought the whole world was black and white at that time.
Our childhood consisted of playing outside, riding bikes and staying out until the street lights came on. Most of us came home to a mom who was making a delicious dinner from scratch in an immaculate house. I know my mom’s sole job was taking care of her house and family, a job she excelled at. It was such a different time that I almost feel like it was another life.
I look at this picture and I am puzzled where the time went. How did I get to be 62 years old? What?!? Just yesterday I was a little girl carrying around my best friend (Bobo was his name), with no problems and the whole world of time to spend……
My Life so Far
I have had an amazingly wonderful life, full of love and laughter, tears and sadness and it all balanced out. So at this age, I find myself on Facebook 10 times a day and absolutely hooked on Pinterest. I know my way around a computer and I like to write, so when I realized that many of those Pinterest pins led to blogs by young moms and working women, I saw a little bit of a gap in the blogosphere. Older women, not all of whom are computer illiterate, who love their grandkids, love to travel, are dealing with aging issues and medical problems as well as enjoying the “two-someness” of their marriage again are lacking blogs about what appeals to them.
I’m hoping to fill some of this space—hang on and take this ride with me!
